KRISTIN KEST COLLECTION
"The focus of my work has always been located squarely in the natural world" says Kristin, and I'm delighted to be able to share with you a sampling of her wonderful work in that genre - beginning here with every illustration she created for one of the most popular of books in that children's science market. It's a departure for me, but the quality of her painting just has to be seen! In the last 30 years, Kristin has illustrated over 30 books, 15 calendars, covers for numerous magazines and publications, a 100-page graphic novel, and much more. Her work spans genres as well as markets, ranging from the educational/ technical sciences, to historical fiction and science-fiction. Kristin excels in depicting the most fascinating aspects of whatever subject matter she is illustrating, and nowhere is this more evident than in her natural history illustrations, where she combines a deep understanding of the natural world with the Fantastic - to tell each creature's story. Kest has her MFA from Maryland Institute College of Art (MICA), and taught Illustration and Drawing at York College of PA for nearly 9 years. I am very pleased to be able to offer, for the first time, all the paintings created for "Creepy Creatures" - one of several children's educational books - each one filled with wondrous depictions of animal wildlife - from endangered species to the exotic and unusual.
