This is an original painting created for the cover of Paul Gallico's well-known story "Jennie" published by Penguin Books, 1963 (I show the cover for reference) The story - of a young boy called Peter, who survives a car accident only to discover that he has turned into a cat - is beautifully captured in Haberfield's illustration.   It's a lovely painting, signed titled and dated, done in gouache on board,  An exquisite example of Haberfield's imagination, this is one heck of a memorable image - and Hand-painted in gouache on artboard, 18.5" x 10.5"
