Darrell K. Sweet: Man from Mundania (Xanth #12)

This is the Original cover painting for the 12th book in Piers Anthony's long-running and highly popular Xanth series of novels - and concludes the trilogy of "Vale of the Vole" and "Heaven Cent" in the series.  This one has all the DKS signature bells and whistles - the gorgeous flying dragons, the castle, and the characters we love.   As a sidenote: Anthony is credited for making popular the use of the label "mundane" in SF/F fandom: a person who does "not belong" (non-fans) - according to the members of that group; the implication being that they lack imagination, and are concerned solely with the "mundane" and the ordinary.   DKS did most of Anthony's covers in that series, and  none have been available for years - so now's the time to pick your favorite!  This one, like others, published by Tor, 2000  (book  shown for reference only).  Painted in acrylic on gypsum board, 24" x 32"  and signed "DKS"  bottom right plus signed and titled on the reverse.
