This is an original cover painting for the 1st edition of #8 (of 24) in the popular "Saga of Recluce" series of fantasy novels by L. E Modesitt Jr, published by Tor Books 1998 (I show the cover for reference) This novel was the second of two volumes set mostly on the continent of Hamor, far across the sea from Recluce, where the story began - and is the follow up to 'Natural Order Mage' which was the 14th in the series.   This is a very dynamic scene, plenty of fireworks (!) and action - very dramatic and exciting!   Handpainted  in acrylics on gypsum board, in wrap-around format, 24" x 32"  and is signed bottom right in initials plus titled, signed and dated on the reverse.
