This original painting appears to depict the British Raj fighting against Indian soldiers - possibly the First War of Independence for India, c 1854.  In any event it is beautifully painted piece of illustration art, and very large for Pether, who clearly wanted to include as many exciting details as possible, here.   It's in gouache and acrylic on illustration board, 17" x 25.5" in panoramic "wraparound" format, and comes with a label affixed to the back attesting to authenticity.  There is some discoloration from age in the background but this does not detract from the handsomeness of this image overall -
