This is the original painting created for the cover of the novel by Joel Gross, based on the life and career of actress Sara Bernhardt, published by New English Library (NEL), 1987.   "The Divine Sarah" as was called, is the central figure here, depicted as a young woman (she died 1923) and only slightly idealized in likeness.  Painted in acrylics on illustration board  18" x 12" and comes signed.
